In the northwest corner of the state of Guerrero are two scenic bays, side-by-side.
One holds the boutique fishing village of Zihuatanejo, the other the luxurious resort city of Ixtapa. People tend to refer to them together, as Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. They look out over the Pacific Ocean and enjoy not only the view, but an enviable climate all year round. These are two of Mexico´s most popular bays, and there is lots to do here: play first-class golf courses, swim with dolphins or in water parks, surf, take kayak tours to the Island of Ixtapa, and just enjoy the 11.2 miles of beaches.
There´s something for nature lovers too; amid Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo´s lush vegetation observers will find thriving biodiversity. Take a bicycle tours to Aztlan Park and Linda Beach to observe crocodiles and turtles in their natural habitat.
The two towns have more than 100 hotels and resorts, including the Melia Azul Ixtapa All Inclusive Beach Resort & Convention Center, with 400 ocean view rooms and suites, and 7 flexible halls and 8 meeting rooms that hold up to 2,400 people. The Barcelo Ixtapa Beach Resort has 340 guest rooms and event space for up to 400 people.
Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport is 15 minutes from downtown Zihuatanejo, and is served by direct flights from, among others, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Vancouver, and Minneapolis, and an air taxi service to Acapulco.
