Our Lady of Guadalupe Sanctuary, Piedras Negras

Across the Rio Grande from Eagle Pass, Texas in the state of Coahuila is the city of Piedras Negras. The name, which means “black stones” in English, refers to the coal found in the region and explains the power plants located 30 miles south of the city. Piedras Negras has experienced continual growth since its founding in the middle of the 19th century.

It is one of the most modern cities in Mexico due to its proximity to the U.S. and because it is an industrial city built around electric plants and car factories. Piedras Negras offers  top-quality infrastructure and is considered one of Mexico’s cleanest cities.

Piedras Negras has a number of hotels, restaurants and event spaces, including the La Fuente Colonial Event Hall that has space appropriate for up to 320 people and the Grand Premier Hall that can accomodate 400 individuals. The Quality Inn Piedras Negras has 140 guest rooms and their banquet and meeting facilities hold 490 people.

Just 10 minutes from downtown is the Piedras Negras International Airport, with service to Dallas/Fort Worth.
