The Mayan ruins of Tulum

Heading south from Cancun along the state of Quintana Roo´s coast, facing the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, is the multicultural Riviera Maya. This archeologically and ecologically rich area extends from Puerto Morelos to Punta Allen and includes both the cosmopolitan beach town, Playa del Carmen, and the spectacular seaside Mayan ruins at Tulum.

Visitors choose from a wide variety of excursions and tours such as open-water scuba diving beside coral reefs, snorkeling in majestic subterranean rivers called Cenotes, and exploring Mayan ruins, Coba, Uxmal and the recently named New Wonder of the World, Chichen Itza.

Many hotels along the Riviera Maya offer first-class facilities and as many as 2,000 bedrooms. The El Dorado Royale & Spa Resort is one of the many luxury hotels in the region. It has 653 rooms, and meeting spaces that fit 780 people, as well as spas and restaurants. The hotel offers tours and adventure activities. With over 40 hotels designed to accommodate large groups, incentive tours and pre and post-convention activities, the Riviera Maya is an unusually beautiful location for a wide range of possible events.

Due to the fact that Cancun and the Riviera Maya are among the world´s top destinations, planners will find very competent DMCs and PCOs in the area to help with logistics.
